Our Story
CBowden’s Valley Dog School was founded in 2015 with a simple mission: to help dogs and their owners build stronger, more trusting relationships through professional training, structure, clear communication, and behavioral guidance.
What started as a favor for a friend quickly grew into a trusted dog training business serving families throughout the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. Since opening, CBowden’s Valley Dog School has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of dogs and families achieve their training goals, build better communication, and create more reliable results at home.
At CBowden’s Valley Dog School, we believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dog training. Every dog is different. Each dog comes with their own personality, learning style, temperament, history, and individual needs. Because of that, our programs are designed to be personalized, practical, and realistic for both the dog and the family.
Whether we are working with a young puppy just beginning their training journey, a family dog who needs better manners, or a dog struggling with more serious behavior concerns, our goal is always to create clear communication, build confidence, and help each dog become a more reliable and enjoyable companion.
We are a small, home-based training facility with a strong focus on safety, structure, cleanliness, professionalism, and individual care. Unlike large commercial kennels, we only work with a limited number of dogs at a time so each student and guest receives the time, attention, and consistency they deserve.
Our training building is located right next to our family home and is equipped with cameras, alarms, and carefully maintained cleaning protocols. We take pride in creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment for every dog in our care, and we regularly receive compliments on how clean and well-kept our facility is.
We offer a hybrid approach to boarding and training. Our facility includes safe kennel stalls for students and guests, along with crates for dogs who are still crate training or benefit from that added structure. Each dog has their own dedicated space, access to fresh water, and carefully stored belongings in airtight storage areas.
Dogs are let out regularly throughout the day into one of our fully fenced yards. We have a smaller turf yard with six-foot fencing and a larger fenced yard for training, play, and structured time outside. Every dog is supervised any time they leave their kennel space.
Our facility is also equipped with a commercial grooming tub, refrigerator for cold food or medications, washer and dryer for keeping bedding clean, and a calm environment with music playing throughout the day.
Because real life does not happen in a kennel or training yard alone, our training dogs are also regularly brought into our home. This allows them to practice obedience, manners, impulse control, and calm behavior in an environment that feels much more like the home they will return to with their families.
Coming in late 2026, we are excited to add an agility play yard for training students and guests. This space will be used for enrichment, confidence building, body awareness, and fun structured activities.
Today, CBowden’s Valley Dog School continues to help dogs and families build better relationships through training that is practical, personalized, and designed for real life. Our mission has always remained the same: to help dogs become more confident, reliable, and enjoyable companions while giving their families the education, support, and tools they need to maintain that progress at home.
